Auburn Economic Development Zone Board
Minutes
July 21, 2003

Present:        Tom Ganey, Arlene Ryan, Steve Vincent, Michael Trapani, Sally Jo Widmer , Tom McNabb.

Excused:        Ann Kubarek

Absent: Marcia Wiley, Jeff Delbel

Tom Ganey called the meeting to order at 4:10 PM.

Sally Jo Widmer made a motion to approve the minutes of the October 30, 2003 meeting.  Steve Vincent Second. Motion was approved by unanimous consent.

Matching Grant Funding
Cindy Aikman offered a resolution required to apply for State matching grant funding. (Attached).

Sally Jo asked if the City has committed the match.  

Cindy Aikman confirmed that the City funds were approved in the 2003-2004 budget on June 5, 2003.

Steve Vincent made the motion. Second by Mike Trapani.  Motion passed by unanimous consent.

Tom McNabb made a motion to authorize the Chairman, Tom Ganey, to sign the necessary documents to apply for New York State Empire Zone matching grant funding.  Second by Sally Jo.  Motion passed by unanimous consent.

Zone Program Update
Cindy Aikman passed around a new folder designed to hold marketing materials.  She explained that the Zone program Legislation expires on June 30, 2004 and is up for re-authorization.  Traditionally at this time in a program’s life an audit is done and hearings are held to review the program.  Cindy reported that she has asked the Mayor to host a zone legislative hearing here at City Hall.  She invited board members to attend, and she would invite business owners to speak at the hearing.  Cindy presented the thoughts about graduating the Made in Auburn and Cayuga County Showcase to Made in the Finger Lakes.  Cindy presented the information about purchasing a segment on a CNBC program to be aired in the 1st  quarter of 2004.

The board members asked questions, discussed ideas and gave their support for the efforts and initiatives outlined.

Steve Vincent made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Second by Sally Jo.  Motion passed unanimously.
